Pilates and Breast Cancer

I am 50, a breast cancer survivor, and a whole lot fitter, happier, and self-confident since I found Jayme and Pilates. I experienced Pilates for the first time in November 2010, after being the lucky winner of 10 lessons from the Pilates Training Center, Kailua.  I can't say I would have paid for ten Pilates lessons as I had no idea what Pilates was about (some kind of exercise that celebrities did I thought), but I was exhausted from having completed six months of chemo and radiation therapy for breast cancer.

I started Pilates very weak.  We started slowly and over time I regained strength, tone, and most importantly, self-confidence.  I was especially happy that my trainer (Jayme) tailored the workout to my physical condition.  My takeaway was you don't have to be "in shape" to derive benefit from Pilates.

In the past I was a gym going, aerobics, and personal trainer type of person. Now that I have experienced Pilates, I won't be going back to my old gym ways.

For me Pilates is a wholesome and comprehensive way to get fit and a lot of fun at the same time.  I look forward to going to Pilates and to the results that come along with it.  I appreciate the way I feel after a workout-Like I didn't waste my time and got a great work out.

Did Pilates change my life?  Perhaps.  Did Pilates change my attitude about fitness and health?  Absolutely!
